GAMA President and CEO Pete Bunce said of the report that the industry continues to progress in its recovery efforts, but that “we still trail when compared to how the industry was faring before the onset of the pandemic. Efforts to address ongoing supply chain issues, strengthen our workforce and enhance environmental sustainability will continue to be at the forefront as interest and demand for aircraft remains robust.”
According to the report, when compared to the first six months of 2020, piston airplane deliveries increased 12.3 percent, with 565 units shipped. Turboprop shipments increased 45.4 percent, with 221 airplanes delivered. Business jets increased by 8.2 percent, with 264 deliveries.
The total value of airplanes shipped through the second quarter of 2021 was $8.6 billion, an increase of approximately 9.4 percent over the same period last year.
Year-on-year six-month turbine helicopter deliveries increased 33 percent, with 258 new helicopters shipped, and piston helicopters increased by 31.7 percent, with 83 deliveries.
