Go for Class G and E airports in Pilot Passport challenge

When you land at Class G or E airports in October, check in via the AOPA app’s Pilot Passport feature to participate in the Haunted Heights Challenge. The three participants with the most check-ins at Class G or E airports during the month will win an Instrument Rating Course from Sporty’s Pilot Shop valued at $249.

If you are looking for some fall fun to add to the Pilot Passport challenge, research events such as festivals, corn mazes, and haunted attractions in advance that you might want to take in with your friends or family that are near a Class G or E airport; then, reserve a rental car and enjoy some spooky fun after landing.

For an aerial challenge, spot and photograph corn mazes from the air, and just be sure to land and check in at as many Class G or E airports as possible along your route. You can share your photos via the Pilot Passport feature of the app, and while you can earn points and even badges for doing so, it won’t increase your chances of winning the October challenge.

To participate, make sure you are landing at an airport that is in Class G or E airspace, not at a Class D airport that changes to Class E when the tower is closed. Learn more from the official rules.
